Registrations for Non-PPS Students

Spring 2025–26 Notes

Spring Class schedule will be posted at the bottom of this page within a few days registration opening (Feb 2).
We ask that you complete the form and course choices with the Counselor at your school. Not all PPS courses use the same names as other schools, and we want to make sure the courses you have chosen will earn the appropriate credit at your school.
You can return the form to PESS at any time, but we will not enroll non-PPS students until the week prior to the beginning of class, as class space allows.

Spring 2025-26 Dates:

Course list for Spring will be available on or around Monday, Feb 2. Please meet with your School Counselor to discuss registration for Evening Scholars classes.
Classes meet once per week, from Feb 23 - June 1.

Portland Evening & Summer Scholars Attendance Expectations

Portland Evening Scholars is not an online program. There are 13 classes to cover 18 weeks of work. Attendance is critical and expected. We do not have ‘excused absences’. Students that are absent for the first 3 weeks of class are automatically unenrolled as a No Show. After this initial 3-week drop, absences will continue to be monitored for all students throughout the 13-week term. Once 3 absences have been accrued by a student, the following will happen:

Absence 3: Students will receive a notice which will be emailed to the student, guardian, day time counselor, and PES teacher as a reminder that students are dropped at 5 absences and to offer support in avoiding more absences.
Absence 4: Students will receive a notice which will be emailed to the student, guardian, day time counselor, and PES teacher as a reminder that students are dropped at 5 absences and to offer support in avoiding more absences.
Absence 5: Students will be unenrolled from Evening Scholars due to attendance. This is not a disciplinary action, rather an acknowledgement that despite all the effort to get the student to attend class, this is simply not the right time for them to enroll in our program and we will welcome them to try again in a future session when their busy lives are more inline with attending class.

Enrollment Prioritization (based on class cohort during the current school year)

Summer Scholars will not enroll students for grade improvement or credit advancement. Students in these situations are invited to enroll in Evening Scholars.

1. PPS Seniors
2. PPS Juniors, Credit Recovery and Credit Deficient
3. PPS Sophomores, Credit Recovery and Credit Deficient
4. PPS Freshmen, Credit Recovery and Credit Deficient
